The Assam Board refers to two major educational authorities in the state: the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA) and the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC). Together, they regulate and manage the academic structure, syllabus, examinations, and evaluation processes for Class 10 and Class 12 students across Assam. These boards play a vital role in shaping the educational standards of the state and guiding the academic future of lakhs of students every year.
SEBA, established in 1962, is responsible for conducting the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examination for Class 10. It designs the curriculum, prescribes textbooks, and ensures that teaching and evaluation follow modern academic standards. SEBA also publishes sample papers, model question sets, and blueprints to help students prepare with clarity and confidence.
AHSEC, founded in 1984, administers the Higher Secondary (HS) examinations for Class 12 in Arts, Science, and Commerce streams. The council focuses on strengthening higher secondary education by regularly updating the syllabus, providing practical-oriented learning, and implementing transparent examination systems. AHSEC also promotes vocational and skill-based subjects to help students develop employability skills.
Both SEBA and AHSEC have embraced digital transformation through online registration, digital admit cards, e-results, and structured evaluation processes. These initiatives ensure accuracy, reduce human errors, and make exam procedures more student-friendly. Schools affiliated with the Assam Board follow a balanced curriculum that promotes conceptual understanding, discipline, and overall personality development.
