JAC Board
The Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC), commonly known as the JAC Board, is the official educational authority responsible for regulating school-level education in Jharkhand. Established in 2000, the council is headquartered in Ranchi and works under the Government of Jharkhand to improve educational standards, implement academic policies, and conduct fair and transparent examinations for lakhs of students each year.
The JAC Board conducts the state’s major public examinations, including the Class 10 (Matric) and Class 12 (Intermediate) exams in Science, Commerce, and Arts streams. These exams are usually held between February and March, followed by the timely declaration of results through online platforms. In addition to annual exams, the board also conducts compartmental exams, enabling students to improve their performance and clear pending subjects without losing an academic year.
Apart from school-level exams, JAC is also responsible for conducting various other examinations such as Madrasa, Intermediate Vocational Courses, and Secondary Vocational Courses. It manages academic guidelines, prescribes updated syllabi, releases textbooks, and publishes model question papers, sample papers, blueprints, and marking schemes to help students prepare effectively.
