Bihar Board

The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB), commonly known as the Bihar Board, is a statutory body established under the Bihar School Examination Act. Headquartered in Patna, the board is responsible for regulating, supervising, and conducting examinations for secondary (Class 10) and senior secondary (Class 12) education across the state. It aims to improve the quality of school education and ensure a transparent and efficient evaluation system for lakhs of students every year.

The Bihar Board conducts major examinations such as the Matric (Class 10) and Intermediate (Class 12) board exams, typically held in February. Along with these annual exams, BSEB also organizes supplementary/compartment exams, allowing students to improve their scores or reappear in subjects they could not pass earlier. The board also conducts several other competitive and certificate examinations, including Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.), Teacher Eligibility Test (TET), and Physical Education certification exams.

One of the key strengths of the Bihar Board is its adoption of modern practices such as digital evaluation, OMR-based assessment, and online result publication, which has significantly reduced errors and increased transparency. Each year, BSEB releases the latest syllabus, model papers, and sample question sets to help students prepare effectively. Schools affiliated with BSEB follow the curriculum designed to build conceptual understanding and improve academic performance.
