1. Why was it so crowded at the door of the coach?

Ans: As soon as the train arrived at the platform, some passengers began disembarking, while others pushed and struggled to bring their bags inside through one door.

2. Have you ever travelled by train? When?

Ans: Yes, I traveled by train when I went with my family to my grandmother’s house.

3. What food would you like to take with you when you travel? Why?

Ans: Foods that are easy to eat and less messy, such as biryanis, rolls, idli sambar, and dosas, are ideal for train journeys. Because they are easy to carry, less messy, stay fresh longer, and are filling.

4. What does the ticket-checker do?

Ans: The ticket – Checker checks and verifying tickets of passengers during their train journey. 

5. How will you recognise the ticket-checker?

Ans: I can recognize a ticket checker by their uniform and the badges they wear.

6. What did Omana see from the window?

Ans: Omana saw fields, small villages, etc., which seemed to run in opposite directions. She also saw the beautiful orange sky at the time of the sunset.

7. What are some of the things that are sold at Railway stations?

Ans: Some of the things that are sold at railway stations are: Chai, batata vada and doodh thanda etc. 

8. Why do you think there was no water in the bathroom of the train? Discuss.

Ans: There are several reasons why a train bathroom might be without water, including water tank issues, passenger misuse, or maintenance problems. 

9. Imagine that you are going on a long train journey. What are the things that you will take with you to help pass the time?

Ans: I will take my books to read. And play games with my friends like ludo, sudoku to pass the time. Also I will enjoy the mesmerized scenario from the window. 

10. Can you recognise who these people are shown in the picture? What work do they do? Discuss.

Ans: (i) Porter (Coolie) – Carries passengers’ luggage at railway stations.

(ii) Guard – Signals the train’s departure and ensures safety.

(iii) Train Driver (Loco Pilot) – Drives the train.

(iv) Ticket Collector (TTE) – Checks passengers’ tickets.

(v) Railway Police (RPF) – Maintains security at railway stations and trains.

(vi) Sweeper (Sanitation Worker) – Cleans the railway station.

(vii) Booking Clerk – Issues tickets at the ticket counter.
