1. When you play Kabaddi, how many players do you have in a team?

Ans: In the kabaddi game, each side has 7 players when the game starts. 

2. How many players got out when Shyamala touched the line?

Ans: Six players surrounded Shyamala during the match. While Shyamala was touching the center line all the six players had their hands on Shyamala. Hence, six players got out.

3. Do you have ways to resolve disputes in games?

Ans: Disputes in games can be resolved in the following ways:

(a) The referee should properly explain the rules of the game if any player violates it while playing.

(b) The referee should be attentive and keep a check on the moves of the players so that disputes can be resolved easily.

2. What does it mean to be out in games? When does one get ‘out’ in Kabaddi?

Ans: In games, being “out” means that the player who is “out” can’t participate for some time in the same game. In kabaddi, one is ejected if he loses his breath while playing for the opposing team.

3. In some games it is very important to touch the player. For example in the game of Kho-Kho, you get ‘out’ when someone touches you. You also get your turn by someone’s touch. Name some games in which it is very important to touch the players?

Ans: Hide and seek, police thief, kabaddi etc.

4. In Kabaddi, the entire team was ‘out’, because Shyamala had touched the line. What are some other games in which the central line is very important?

Ans: There are several games where the central line plays an important role, just like in Kabaddi.

Some of them are: Volleyball, Badminton, Tug of War, Table Tennis, Basketball.

5. What are the games in which, besides the players, you have to touch some things or colours?

Ans: Games where you touch objects or colors include Kho-Kho (touching the pole), Hopscotch (stepping on numbered boxes), Blind Man’s Bluff (tagging players), Dog and the Bone (grabbing an object), Musical Chairs (sitting on a chair), and Colour-Colour (touching a called-out color).

Ans: A coach teaches by giving instructions, demonstrating techniques, and correcting mistakes. A coach makes a player practice through drills, exercises, and repeated training to improve skills and fitness.

Ans: Yes.

3. Imagine that there are 15 children playing Kho-Kho. They must form two teams with equal numbers (7 each). Then one player will be left. What will you do if this happens? Have you ever become the ‘extra person’ in the middle? Write about this. 

Ans: If there are 15 children playing Kho-Kho, two teams of 7 players each can be formed, leaving one extra player. In this situation, the extra player can act as a referee, substitute, or join the game by taking turns with another player. This way, everyone gets a chance to play and enjoy the game.

Yes, I have been the ‘extra person’ before. I got a chance to play when someone needed a break. It was a fun experience, and I learned that even watching and supporting the team is an important part of the game.

4. Every game has some rules. The game is played according to those rules. Let us see what happens if the rules are changed. For example – In cricket, a batsman gets ‘out’, if the bails fall off the stumps. Imagine if there is a rule that the entire team will be ‘out’, if all the three stumps fall. Would it be fun!

Ans: Yes, changing the rules of a game can make it more interesting and challenging! If cricket had a rule where the entire team gets ‘out’ if all three stumps fall at once, the game would become more intense. 

5. Try to play the game with this rule. Similarly, make some rules for other games and play.
