Long Answer Type Questions

1. Name the three subsystems of the human vocal system, and describe the function of each.

Ans: The human voice acts as a built-in musical instrument that works using three main subsystems:

Air Pressure System: It involves the diaphragm, lungs, and surrounding muscles. Its main function is to control the breath and the airflow required to make a sound.Vibratory System: It includes the voice box (larynx) and vocal folds (or vocal cords). When air passes through, these cords vibrate to create the core sound.Resonating System: It consists of the throat, mouth, and nasal cavities. Its function is to amplify the sound and shape it into specific words and tones.

2. Describe some ways to ensure our voices are in good condition.

Ans: To care for our voices and keep them healthy, we should follow these three essential steps:

Drink sufficient water: This keeps the vocal cords hydrated and enables them to vibrate efficiently without getting tired.

Eat a healthy diet: We should eat a diet rich in fruits and vegetables because it boosts immunity against colds and coughs, which can negatively affect voice quality. We should also avoid oily or very acidic foods as they can irritate the vocal cords.

Speak at a moderate volume: Sometimes we tend to shout or raise our voices out of overexcitement, but we must consciously speak at a moderate volume to protect our voice from unnecessary fatigue or damage.
