1. What are the major types of landforms and their significance to life and culture? 

Ans: The main types of landforms are mountains, plateaus and plains. Their physical features and extent vary widely. People living in these places are influenced in their daily activities and lifestyles by the landforms in which they live.

Major Types of Landforms are:

(i) Mountains: difficult life and use of natural resources, such as agriculture and tourism.

(ii) Plateau: suitable for agriculture and mineral resources, influence of climate on life and culture.

(iii) Plains: flat and vast, suitable for agriculture and trade, social and cultural development.

2. What are the challenges and opportunities of life associated with each landform?

Ans: Each landform has its own unique challenges and opportunities. Mountainous regions offer opportunities for minerals and tourism despite difficult conditions. Plains offer opportunities for agriculture and population density. Deserts struggle with water scarcity and heat but offer opportunities for solar energy. Coastal regions face challenges such as storms but also offer benefits for fisheries and tourism.
