(b) What are the different types of environment? Write with examples.
Ans: There are two types of environment:
(i) Natural environment: Natural environment consists of all the things present in the nature or created by nature like mountains and hills, rivers and ocean, sunshine, wind, plants, soil.. Etc.
(ii) Man – Made thing: On the other hand man collects resources from nature to fulfil his needs. In this process changes and modifications take place in nature. The condition created by man is called, ‘Man-made environment’.Examples: Bridges, Factories parks etc.
(c) What are the main components of environment?
Ans: The main components of environment are:
(i) Biotic components: All living organisms like animals, plants, bacteria, fungus, etc. make up in the ‘biotic components. All these are found in the biosphere only.
(ii) Abiotic component: Air (atmosphere), land (lithosphere), water (hydrosphere) are the abiotic components of the environment. Atmosphere is a thin layer of air that covers the earth. This air protects us from the harmful rays of the sun.
(d) How is the man – made environment formed?
Ans: Humans use the various resources of the environment to fulfil their needs. As a result, some changes occur in the envi- ronment and a modified environment is formed. In this way, the environment created by humans for their advantages is called the man-made environment.

4. Write in about eighty words how elements of biotic component exist in the environment.
Ans: All living organisms like animals, plants, bacteria, fungus, etc. make up in the ‘biotic components’. All these are found in the bio- sphere only. The biosphere includes hydrosphere, lithosphere, at- mosphere and all the plants and animals that exist in it. The extension of biosphere is about 24 kms which includes some part of sea, land and air. This sphere is the home of all great animals, plants, or- ganisms and micro-organisms. It means all living organisms existing in water, land and air together form the biotic com- ponent. For creation of a beautiful environment not a single el- ement, whether a tiny or big one, is not less important.
All elements of the biotic components mutually depend upon each other for survival. Animals like cow, goat, deer, etc. feed on grass, while animals like tiger, lion, etc. kill these animals for food. When the plants and both herbivores. All the living things present in a par- ticular environment survive with the help of some other living things. In this re- spect the green grass is called the ‘pro- ducers’, the herbivorous animals are ‘first consumer’, and the carnivorous animals are called the ‘second con- sumer’. When the producer and the consumer die, certain micro organisms help in the process of decomposition and they are called ‘decomposer’. As human beings consume both plants and animals they are called “Omnivores”.
5. Write in about hundred words in what type of environment you would love to live?
Ans: An ideal environment would be free of crime. An ideal environment would be pollution free, and everyone would lead a healthy life. Environment plays an important role in healthy living and the existence of life on planet earth. Earth is a home for different living species and we all are dependent on the environment for food, air, water, and other needs. An ideal environment would have basic facilities ready at disposal like water facilities, electricity facilities, internet facilities, etc. These facilities would be available every minute of the day without failure. It would hardly require a second thought to conclude that this self made artificial environment of ours is a harmful creation. In An ideal environment, everyone would be treated equally and with respect.
