Ans :- The stranger advised Ravi to work hard to get into a good engineering college.

Ans :- The chance meeting with the stranger was a very reward ing experience for Ravi. The stranger wished him all suc cess in life. So Ravi thanked him.

Monjay : I am fine. What are you doing here ?

Articles, auxiliaries, modals আদিৰো মৃদু উচ্চাৰণ হয় ৷

1. Read the following sentences using the weak articles (articles বোৰৰ মৃদু উচ্চাৰণ সৈতে তলৰ বাক্যবোৰ পঢ়া) :

(a) This is a girl – দিচ ইজ আ’ গাৰ্ল

(b) This is a pen – দিচ ইজ আ’ পেন

(c) This is an orange – দিচ ইজ আ’ন্ অৰেঞ্জা

(d) This is an elephant – দিচ ইজ আ’ন এলিফেন্ট 

(e) This is the pen I bought – দিচ ইজ দা পেন আই বট

[In these sentences “this is a/an” is pronounced as one chunk with out any pause. The ‘a’ and the ‘a’n are considerably weakened. Thus normal ‘a’ is pronounced / ei / but in the weak form it is simply /a/]

এই বাক্যবোৰত “দিচ ইজ আ’/আন”একেটা গোট হিচাপে উচ্চাৰণ হয়। aৰ উচ্চাৰণ সাধাৰণ অৱস্থাত /ei/ কিন্তু দুর্বল গঠনত/a/আ’ হিচাপে উচ্চারণ হয়। 

2. Read the following sentences using the weak forms of the primary auxiliaries am, is, are, was, have, has etc.

(a) I am coming. – আই আ’ম কামিং

(b) She is coming. – শ্বি ইম্‌ কামিং 

(c) We are coming. – উই আ'(ৰ) কামিং

(d) I was reading. – আই ৱ’য্ ৰিডিং 

(e) We were reading. – উই ৱা'(ৰ) ৰিডিং

(f) Have they gone ? – হা’ভ দেই গন

(g) He has gone? – হি হা য্ গ’ন

(h) She had left. – শ্বি হা’ড্ লেফ্ট

(i) What does he want ? – হোৱাট ডা’য্ হি ৱাণ্ট ?

(i) How do you come ? –  হাও ডা’ ইউ কাম ?

[In these sentences am is weakened to /m/, is to /z/ are to /r/ etc.] এ বাক্যবোৰত am-ৰ উচ্চাৰণ-m-, is-ৰ উচ্চাৰণ -z- আৰু-are-ৰ উচ্চাৰণ am––m–, is–z–are–r–

3. Read the following sentences using the weak forms of the modals:

(a) Can I go ? – কা’ন্ আই গৌ ?

(b) How could he do it ? – হাও কা’ড্ হি ডু ইট ?

(c) What shall I do ? – হোৱাট শ্বা’ল্ আই ডু ?

(d) Where should I go ? – হোৱাৰ শ্বাড্ আই গো ?

(e) I’ll go ? – আইল্ গৌ I

(f) She would go there ? – শ্বি ৱ’ড্ গৌ দেয়াৰ 

(g) She must go. শ্বি মা’ষ্ট গৌ

[Note that the stress falls on the main verb only and not on the modals, i.e. you must stress the words go, do.]

4. Read the following sentences using the weak forms of the following conjunctions :
