Ans: The king decided to consult the hermit because, after asking many wise men for answers to his three crucial questions and receiving varied, unsatisfactory responses, he was not satisfied and believed the hermit was the only person wise enough to provide the right answers.
2. Who interrupted the King and the hermit’s conversation, and why?
Ans: The King had gone to the hermit to seek answers to his three questions, and while they were talking, suddenly a bearded man came running out of the forest bleeding from a stomach wound, and needed help. He collapsed at the King’s feet in a weakened state. He had actually been an enemy of the King, who planned to kill him, but was himself injured by the King’s guards.
