Sir,

For the last 5 years. we the villagers of entire Silapathar area have been facing a great threat from the elephant. Its becoming a burning issue. The elephants are destroying our houses, damaging crops and even killing people also. In elephant and men conflict more than 7 (seven) people have already lost their life. We have already submit application in D.C office and D.F.O office to provide protection but authority is not paying attention for your kind information. I would like to mention that it is nothing but the result of deforestation that elephants came out of forest in search of food. If forest authority pay attention to stop cutting trees and start planting than only the problem will be solved.

As mentioned earlier I made a petition to the highest authority with a request to provide protection but still no result come out. In utter disgust, I want to ventilate through your esteemed column the unbearable condition of the people of this locality.

Yours faithfully

Rahul Kirtonia
