Q.1. Why was Arjuna Drona’s favourite pupil ?

Ans :- Arjuna was Drona’s favourite pupil because he was the best among the pupils and he could fight with a mace, a sword, a lance or any other weapon.

Q.2. What happened when Drona took the Pandavas into the forest ?

Ans :-  When Drona took the Pandavas into the forest they saw arrows were stuck fast on the trees as if someone had been practising archery.

Q.3. Why was Drona surprised by what had happened ? What did he do next ?

Ans :- The sight surprised Drona greatly because he had always believed that there was no one as skilled in archery as his  pupils. He surprised who the unknown archer could be such wonder operation. So, they set off in search the archer. They saw a young man in an open place of the forest who was deep in prayer beside him lay the arrows and bows. In Front of him was a clay image of their Dronacharya.

Q.4. Why had Drona refused to accept EKalavya as a pupil ? How did the boy still succeed in making Drona his teacher ?

Ans :- Drona refused to accept EKalavya as a pupil because he was not a Kshatriya. But his desire was so great that he made a clay image of Dronacharya whom he made his teacher and practised with bow and arrow sincerely and with great concentration. Thus the boy still succeed in making Drona his teacher.

Q.5. “And who is your teacher ?” How did Drona reach on hearing Ekalavya’s answer to this question ?

Ans :- Drona reacted on hearing Ekalavya’s answer that Drona was Ekalavya’s teacher and he whispered ‘the clay image’ was his. Then Drona’s heart was full of envy and fear but no sign expressed on his face.

Ans :- Ekalavya readily agreed to Drona’s suggestion of a contest with his pupils because of nothing could have made Ekalavya happier and he also wanted to abide by his teacher’s sentence.

Ans :- Drona ensured that Arjuna remained the best archer in the world. By asking him right thumb, Drona made Ekalavya maim so he could not draw his bow as well as he did. Then Arjuna the favourite pupil of Drona remained as the best archer in the world.
