Ans: Bihu is a harvest festival celebrated in Assam.

2. Which are the festivals you celebrate together with other families?

Ans: We celebrate many festivals together with other families, such as Diwali, Holi, Bihu, and Pongal. These festivals bring everyone together for prayers, cultural activities, and grand feasts.

3. Does everyone cook and eat together at such festivals? What are some of the special dishes that are cooked? How are they cooked?

Ans: Yes, during festivals, families and communities often cook and eat together. Some special dishes prepared during festivals include sweets like ladoo and jalebi, savory items like puri and sabji, and traditional rice dishes like pulao and biryani. These are cooked using fresh ingredients, spices, and traditional cooking methods, often in large vessels over a fire or stove.

4. Are some special vessels used for cooking these items? What are they?

Ans: Yes, special vessels are used for cooking during festivals. Some of these include large kadhai (deep frying pan), handi (clay pot), patila (large metal pot), and tandoor (clay oven) for making different dishes.

5. Which is the biggest vessel that is used? Can you draw a picture of it? Can you guess how many people can eat the food that is cooked in it at one time?

Ans: A large kadhai is the biggest vessel used for preparing vegetables. It can cook enough food to serve more than 100 people at a time.

Ans: At a village feast, hundreds of people often eat together. 

2. Have you ever seen the Bihu dance? Did you like it?

Ans: Yes, I have seen the Bihu dance. I really liked it because of its energetic moves, colorful traditional attire.

3. Find out from the students in your class, the festivals that they celebrate and the special food that they eat on these days. Who cooks the special food for festivals?

Ans: My classmates celebrate various festivals like Diwali, Holi, Chhath Puja, Christmas, Pongal, and Bihu. On these occasions, they eat special foods such as laddoos, kheer, biryani, sweets, puri-sabji, and pitha. The special food is usually cooked by mothers, grandmothers.

4. Do you wear clothes of some special colours at some festivals? Make a picture of these clothes in your notebook.

Ans: Yes, we wear special outfits for certain festivals.

5. Are there special songs that are sung at different festivals in your place? Learn some of these songs and sing them in the class.
