Ans. Bolting is internode elongation prior to flowering in rosette plants isolated from endosperm of maze.

4. What is growth?

Ans. It is “sum total of various processes which cause increase in mass, weight or volume of an individual.”

5. What is cell differentiation?

Ans. Cell differentiation is a qualitative change in structure and function of cells.

Ans. The application of auxins is useful in the following four ways in plants:

(i) They control apical dominance.

(ii) They control weeds by herbicidal action.

(iii) Control xylem differentiation and helps in cell division.

(iv) Enhance the formation of roots and the development of parthenogenetic fruits etc.
