Ans: A homogeneous mixture has a uniform composition throughout, e.g., salt dissolved in water.A heterogeneous mixture has a non-uniform composition, e.g., sand and water.

(iv) What is sedimentation? Give an example.

Ans:Sedimentation is the process where heavier insoluble particles settle at the bottom of a liquid.

Example: Mud particles settling at the bottom of a container filled with muddy water.

(v) What are the conditions required for magnetic separation?

Ans: Magnetic separation requires one of the components to be magnetic (like iron) while the other should be non-magnetic (like sand), allowing the magnet to attract and separate the magnetic substance.

(vi) What is the method used to separate grains from stalks in agriculture?
