1. a) What was the name of the village?

Ans: The name of the village was Ratna Sarovar.

b) Why did the villagers keep the lake clear? 

Ans: The villagers kept the lake clean because it was the only source of drinking water for them.They took water from the lake for household use too. It was even used in the paddy fields of Ratna

c) What was the interesting story about lake Sarovar ?

Ans: The interesting story about the lake of Ratna Sarovar is that diamonds by buried beneath the lake bed.

d) Why did the village teacher call the people careless ?

Ans: Because they cut trees and destroy forests, so, there is a change in climate. That is why he calls the people careless.

e) With what purpose did the villagers decide to dig the lake? 

Ans: The villager decided to dig the lake to get water to drink and diamonds to purchase foodgrains. 

f) Did the villagers find diamonds in the lake-bed ?

Ans: No, the villagers did not find diamonds in the lake-bed
